Are Christmas Cards Obsolete?

I love this time of year. Christmas decorations, gifts, snow and Christmas Cards. Only, this year I haven't received many. Are sending Christmas Cards a thing of the past? How many cards did you send/receive this year? As a child, I remember my parents receiving dozens of cards. My mom used to hang them along the perimeter of the walls. But today so many people are getting away from this tradition. Technology has made it so convenient to send e-cards, FaceBook messages or Tweets. I may be an old soul but I love the look and feel of Christmas Cards.

What are some of your favorite Christmas cards designs: ones with Santa, the words: Season's Greetings, reindeer, snowflakes, etc?

  1. You are not the only old soul. I'm sending out at least 50 Christmas cards this year. I think it's important to still show people that you care and Facebook and Twitter just don't cut it for me.

  2. @YUMMama I know. I use Twitter and Facebook for networking but for maintaining special s during the holidays those social networks are too impersonal. Hope you have a beautiful holiday.

  3. We sent out around 45 printed cards, and we also sent a digital version. I opted not for the cheesy santa/reindeer cards. I make them myself so I get to get as creative as I want. I chose 5 pictures and simply happy holidays. Simple and sweet.

  4. @Mommy Glow Kudos to you. It saddens me that so many people has lost the Christmas Spirit. I have received 2 cards so far. I was doing a happy dance when I got them :)

  5. LOL, i've only gotten 2 so far too. Maybe its time, maybe its funds. Maybe people will just tell people happy holidays instead of sending something. I personally enjoy sharing pictures of my daughter with others. And this is the parent I hoped I'd be...scrapbooking, making birthday and holiday cards. Lol. I guess it sounds kinda corny, but I really enjoy it.

  6. I was just thinking that I hardly receive as many holiday cards as I used to! I love cards- especially family pictures.

  7. @Angela The picture ones are the best. My friend used to scan pics of her boys or their drawings on the cards. Simply priceless!
